Hotkeys & Ranked Settings
The hotkeys that win games
All hotkeys are rebindable in Options → Hotkeys. These are the default bindings worth keeping — and learning first.
- Select next idle villagerPeriod (.)
Your single most valuable hotkey — an idle villager is wasted resources. Tap it constantly in the early game.
- Go to Town CenterH
Jumps the screen to a Town Center and selects it so you can queue villagers without scrolling home.
- Assign a control groupCtrl + 1–9
Bind your army, your scout and your Town Centers to numbers; press the number to select them from anywhere.
- Jump to that groupDouble-tap a control group
Press the number twice to centre the screen on it — instant map control.
Set these before you ladder
- Hotkey profile
Set one up before you ladder. Many players copy a pro preset, then tweak the handful of keys they use most.
- Scroll speed
Raise it — fast map movement is half of good multitasking. Edge-scroll plus the minimap clicks.
- Idle villager flag
Turn the on-screen idle-villager indicator on so you can see at a glance when a villager has gone idle.
- Gather-point & queue
Set rally points and learn to shift-queue villager tasks so you're not babysitting.
- Town bell & auto-rejoin
Know the town-bell garrison hotkey for defending against raids, and its release counterpart.
How to customise
Open Options → Hotkeys to rebind anything. You can keep several hotkey profiles and switch between them, which is handy if you share a PC or want a separate set for campaign play. Grid-key layouts — where every building's menu maps to the same physical key positions — are popular because the muscle memory transfers across every building.
